Shopping malls, chain stores and individual shops in Hong Kong are welcome to apply.

There are three categories for the HKGSA Award 2022. Applicants should choose the award category according to the business nature:

Best Green Practice in Shops
Applicant for Shops would be further categorised by business nature:
2.1 Retail sector
2.2 Catering sector
3.
Best Collaborative Effort of Malls and Shops
 
Outstanding cases of Category 1 & 2 will be awarded with Gold, Silver, Bronze or Merit prizes. Special Awards will be granted to awardees in Category 3 to be decided by the Judging Panel.
 
Special Citation - Carbon Neutrality

The Special Citation on Carbon Neutrality honours distinguished mall operators and shop owners who demonstrate superb efforts to drive for carbon neutrality in their daily operation, such as the adoption of resource-saving facilities or the launching of shopper-engagement programmes. The winners will be decided by the Judging Panel after evaluating all the finalists. It will be granted to outstanding performers which showcased excellent strategies and implementation on reducing their carbon emissions at every stage from strategic planning to business operation.
 

Examples of Carbon Neutral Initiatives for Shopping Malls:

  • Adoption of energy-saving technology in malls
  • Use of renewable energy
  • Adoption of management measures to reduce/separate/recycle waste
  • Implementation of effective tenant engagement programme to encourage energy saving, waste and water reduction, green procurement, etc.

Examples of Carbon Neutral Initiatives for Shops:

  • Special programmes to reduce energy, waste and water in the shop’s daily operation
  • Activities to enhance customers’ participation and awarness towards carbon reduction
 

Publicity


 
In addition to the prizes, the winners of the Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance Award 2022 will be promoted in various media to recognise their efforts and raise public awareness of green shopping. Outstanding entrants will gain significant exposure on different platforms, showcasing their green practices and achievements in sustainability to the public.
