King Wah Centre – Actively Engaging in Environmental Protection to Build a Green Community
King Wah Centre is committed to promoting a culture of environmental protection and prioritising sustainable development. Through a variety of initiatives and activities, the Centre encourages tenants, staff, and the public to adopt green lifestyles, injecting eco-conscious energy into the community.
Actively Supporting Green Actions to Drive Eco-Friendly Change
King Wah Centre actively participates in various environmental protection campaigns, including Earth Hour and No Air-Con Night. In advance of these events, invitations are extended to tenants, encouraging them to join the energy-saving and carbon reduction efforts. Additionally, the Centre took part in this year’s “Peach Blossom Recycling Campaign”, encouraging tenants to recycle flowers after festive celebrations to reduce waste and promote resource reuse.
Implementing Green Operations and Reusing Promotional Materials
In its daily operations, King Wah Centre practices waste reduction by reusing various promotional materials such as banners, display boards, and decorations. By extending the lifespan of these items, the Centre reduces the consumption of unnecessary materials. This not only helps lower the carbon footprint but also sets a green example for other shopping centres by promoting a low-carbon business model.
Enhancing Staff Participation and Training
To further strengthen environmental awareness, King Wah Centre actively encourages staff to participate in workshops and exhibitions organised by the Government or environmental organisations. These events enhance knowledge in areas such as waste sorting, carbon reduction measures, and energy efficiency. By gaining up-to-date green knowledge and practical experience, staff are empowered to implement environmental practices more effectively in their roles.
King Wah Centre will continue to collaborate with the community to engage in more green initiatives and, through innovative and practical actions, contribute to Hong Kong’s sustainable development—living out the belief that “Green Starts With Me”.
