All participants are required to submit case studies of the environmental measures or practices implemented in their mall(s) or shop(s) within the period from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022, noting the following details:
- The length of the case submission should be within 500 words in English or 350 words in Chinese.
- It can be supplemented by a maximum of five photos in jpg format, each within 3MB in size and/or a video within five minutes in length.
- The case studies should focus on the environmental measures that transcend the industry practices.
- The case studies which had been submitted in previous edition of the HKGSA Award should not be re-submitted UNLESS there have been significant enhancements during the period as mentioned above.
- Any data relating to the effectiveness or results of the submitted green case studies that can assist the Judging Panel in the assessment process are encouraged.

For application of Category 1 - Best Green Practice in Malls, entries should cover at least three of the following requirements:
- Demonstration of management commitment to green shopping environment
- Installation of facilities in-mall that demonstrate at least one of the six green aspects
- Launching of initiatives or programmes to support tenants to implement the six green aspects
- Launching of any green activities to promote environmental awareness and decarbonisation to shoppers
- Implementation of programmes or measures that engage tenants and/or shoppers to work together to achieve carbon reduction
For application of Category 2 - Best Green Practice in Shops, entries should cover at least two of the following requirements:
- Demonstration of the commitment by shop owners to the implementation of green practices in their daily shop operation
- Implementation of at least one of the six green aspects in shop operation
- Launching of green promotional campaigns to promote green shopping practices and decarbonisation to shoppers
- Implementation of programmes or measures that engage shoppers to work together to achieve carbon reduction
For application of Category 3 – Best Collaborative Effort of Malls and Shops
Describe a green case study and its significant results regarding a collaboration between Mall and Shops with at least one of the following focuses:
- Decarbonisation strategy
- Environmental effectiveness
- Innovation
- Community engagement
- Any other focus that the applicants consider appropriate
