Tai Po Mega Mall - Engaging the Community in Environmental Responsibility

Promoting sustainability and green practices has always been a key focus at Tai Po Mega Mall. Over the years, the Mall has implemented various measures and continues to explore innovative approaches to engage stakeholders in making positive environmental impacts.

In early 2025, the Mall installed Smart Recycling Bins provided by the Environmental Protection Department. By providing additional recycling facilities, the Mall aimed to encourage shoppers to recycle more. As an added incentive, shoppers can earn GREEN$ points for every recycling effort, which can be used for future gift redemptions.

Tai Po Mega Mall hopes to encourage more customers to actively participate in recycling activities by making it easier to locate the recycling points in the Mall. To achieve this, QR codes have been added on trash bins, allowing customers to scan and view relevant information on their mobile devices.

The Mall also periodically organises various green events and workshops to raise environmental awareness among local residents and shoppers. For instance, the special “Nature Amphibian and Reptile Educational Exhibition” provided participants with the unique opportunity to learn more about these amazing animals up close, fostering a deeper appreciation of biodiversity and conservation. Additionally, the Mooncake Recycling Campaign held in collaboration with Food Grace encouraged shoppers to donate mooncakes to the Mall’s collection point, promoting a culture that cherishes food by reducing food waste.

Through a series of environmental initiatives and community activities, Tai Po Mega Mall not only aims to increase its recycling rate but also enhance public awareness of environmental protection. The Mall plans to continue implementing sustainable development measures, inviting the community to join hands with it in creating a sustainable future together.
