Tsuen Wan Plaza Shopping Arcade (the Mall) is under the management of Hong Yip Service Company Limited. The Mall actively reduces its energy consumption through innovative technology, and collaborates closely with various stakeholders and green partners to promote environmental protection and sustainable development.
Carbon and Waste Reduction
The Mall is equipped with an innovative Internet of Things system. Using a mobile app, the management team can remotely monitor operational facilities such as lighting, air conditioning, and alarm systems. This automation allows immediate adjustments based on real-time environmental changes, which can significantly reduce electricity consumption.
To support the Government’s effort to encourage the use of electric vehicles (EVs), the Mall is one of the pilot sites under Sun Hung Kai Properties to launch an EV Super Charging service exclusively for The Point members, which encourages even more drivers to use electric vehicles. Additionally, the Mall holds car exhibitions and workshops, giving customers the opportunity to personally experience the exceptional performance of electric vehicles.
Promoting a Green Lifestyle
To cultivate a green lifestyle within the community, a self-service water dispenser is available in the Mall’s L5 Play Garden, which encourages children to bring reusable bottles and reduce plastic waste. The Garden also features a solar windmill and a solar charging bench, which allow children to learn about renewable energy while playing. Throughout the year, the mall has organised over 30 ESG tours and workshops with schools and green partners to enhance environmental awareness and demonstrate how technology is helping it to achieve energy savings and waste reduction. These activities all play an important role in inspiring more people to embrace a greener lifestyle.
