Mikiki – Integrating ESG into Shopping Mall Management for a Sustainable Future

Mikiki actively integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into its operations, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and community engagement. Through impactful initiatives, the mall combines innovation and collaboration to foster a sustainable future.

Mikiki is committed to nurturing the next generation through a diverse range of programmes in collaboration with various organisations. For instance, it partnered with the Education Bureau to organise Green Tours for secondary school students to promote environmental awareness. It also collaborated with the Vocational Training Council (VTC) and other organisations to offer eco-education and work experience programmes, allowing students to gain hands-on exposure to sustainability practices for their career development. Furthermore, the mall also fosters professional growth by providing DSE graduates with internships, career workshops, and market operation training.

Its self-developed systems, the "Intelligent Senior Master" and "i-Gardening System", reflect its dedication to sustainability and innovation. These systems leverage AI and IoT technologies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce resource wastage, and minimise environmental impact. The mall has been recognised with the Silver Award in the Smart Technology category at the Excellence in Facility Management Awards 2023/24, organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management, exemplifying its achievements in sustainable development.

Promoting community engagement is also a key focus. In 2024, the mall co-organised the PeaceBox Blessing Campaign, donating nearly 5,000 PeaceBox gifts to underprivileged families to promote sustainability and a culture of sharing. It also co-organised the "Healthy Living, Shared Responsibility" Community Promotion Day, promoting health and well-being through seminars and interactive activities.
