Towngas Cooking Centre – Promoting Green Living through Culinary Innovation

Towngas Cooking Centre is dedicated to promoting sustainability by integrating eco-friendly practices into its operations. Through community engagement, education, and innovative cooking, it inspires green living and contributes to a sustainable future.

Supporting Community Welfare

Towngas Cooking Centre collaborates with Mrs. Lazy “明哥送暖義工行動” to support underprivileged communities while promoting plant-based eating. The Centre provided the venue and vegetarian ingredients for Disciples Escoffier graduates to prepare 600 handmade vegetarian pastries and 200 festive gift sets. These were distributed to low-income families in Sham Shui Po, fostering community solidarity and promoting green eating habits.

Promoting Sustainable Cooking through Media

Through TV programmes like 《家家有求》, the Centre advocates sustainable cooking and kitchenware maintenance. Instructors from the Centre shared tips on caring for stainless steel woks and cutting boards, emphasising how proper use and maintenance reduce waste and extend the lifespan of kitchen tools, thus helping to minimise environmental impact.

Encouraging Sustainable Agriculture and Local Ingredients

The Centre hosted the “IDE Sustainable Culinary Experience” led by Michelin Green Star Chef Benoît Witz. Participants visited the Towngas Organic Low-Carbon Farm to learn about organic farming and local sourcing. The experience continued with a farm-to-table lunch at CulinArt 1862, where Chef Witz demonstrated sustainable cooking techniques using locally sourced ingredients.

Raising Awareness of Sustainable Seafood

The Centre is preparing the IDE Sustainable Floral Feast Gala Dinner to promote sustainable seafood and marine conservation. The event will feature a creative menu crafted with eco-friendly ingredients, highlighting the importance of protecting our oceans.

Towngas Cooking Centre is committed to fostering green living through culinary innovation and community involvement, advocating sustainable practices and inspiring positive environmental change.
