Nan Fung Property Management’s Mid-Autumn Recycling Programme Marks its 10th Year
Expanding Community Partnerships to Build a Zero-Waste Festival

For the tenth consecutive year, Nan Fung Property Management (NFPM) has championed sustainability during the Mid-Autumn Festival, collaborating with customers and community partners to add a green touch to the traditional celebration. This year, the programme expanded from its managed shopping malls to residential, commercial, and industrial properties. For the first time, its scope was also broadened beyond mooncakes and mooncake boxes to cover other packaging materials. With 78 managed properties participating, the programme successfully diverted nearly 700kg of recyclables from landfills, marking a significant step towards the company’s key “Waste Zero” initiative.

Building on past successes and responding to positive feedback from stakeholders, the programme was enhanced to more comprehensively address festive packaging waste by including the collection of plastic trays and styrofoam fruit wraps. Collection points were set up across all participating properties, encouraging tenants and customers to actively take part in waste reduction.

NFPM extended the programme's impact across the community by connecting with partners from different sectors. In collaboration with non-profit organisation Food Grace, over 1,000 surplus mooncakes and festive food items were collected and shared with more than 510 families in need, jointly promoting a food-cherishing culture. Furthermore, NFPM participated in its tenant Maxim’s Group’s “Project Green Moon” initiative, recycling a total of 245 kg of mooncake boxes. All other collected packaging recyclables were sent to a recognised downstream recycler for proper processing, ensuring the resources could be regenerated.

This recycling programme powerfully demonstrates how NFPM integrates its "Sustainability Framework 2030" into daily operations, marking significant progress towards its journey of "Waste Zero".
