Organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and funded by the Construction Industry Council (CIC), the Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance provides an effective platform for encouraging stronger collaboration between shopping malls and shops in adopting green practices, ultimately elevating sustainability standards across the whole retail industry in Hong Kong.

To recognise the outstanding contributions and collaborative efforts of shopping malls and shops in fostering a green shopping environment, the Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance Award (HKGSA Award) was established in 2019. Industry practitioners are invited to apply for the HKGSA Award by submitting green showcases or collaborative projects that showcase their sustainability performance and share inspiring best practices with industry practitioners for mutual learning. Since the start of 2025, the HKGSA Award has been transitioned to a biennial format to enhance its industry impact and foster deeper engagement. Under this new structure, HKGSA hosts a series of capacity building workshops during the first year to help the industry master the latest green operational trends and apply this learning in real-world settings. The HKGSA Award follows in the second year, providing practitioners with an excellent opportunity to showcase their insights and sustainability achievements.
